Community Outreach Ministry
The Community Outreach Ministry focuses on building relationships within the church and with local communities through engaging in fellowship and service opportunities.
We have different service opportunities you can participate in, such as Gospel Soup and Grocery Giveaway. We need volunteers to assist with both programs throughout the year. If you are interested, please contact us at info@walkerbaptistdc.org.
Gospel Soup
Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Walker Memorial provides free soup and sandwiches to those in need in our community. The distribution takes place in front of our church at 2020 13th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20009. We invite anyone facing food insecurity to attend and receive a nourishing meal. Please share this information with others who may benefit from this service as well.
Grocery Giveaway
Walker Memorial partners with Capital Area Food Bank to support families facing food insecurity each month. The Grocery Giveaway Program provides essential groceries to families in need every 1st Wednesday and 3rd Thursday of the month, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This program aims to ensure that no family goes hungry and everyone has access to nutritious food. Families in our community are invited to email us at info@walkerbaptistdc.org to request groceries. Those who sign-up are requested to pick-up their food during the allotted times.
